Busted Music Video Summery

Our task was to re-created a music video by Busted as a whole class. The song we decided to do was 'That's What I go to School For". We all had to take on different roles such as director, actor/actress and camera people. We thought this would be a good music video to do because we all had school uniforms and classrooms in college. We began by looking at the music video multiple times and analysing it to make sure that we filmed all parts that we needed. We then went on to filming.

I wasn't there for most of the filming because I was on a college trip but from what I saw the filming went really well. There was good communication within the group and we could all have a laugh while still making sure that we were getting the filming done quick and efficiantly. We got multiple clips of the same scene and so that helped us when it came to editing because we had a lot of choice in the clips that we could use.

The editing itself was quite challenging but it went really well for me. The clips were all very short and quick in the actual video and so this meant that there was a lot of editing involved when we were creating our own copy. There was also a lot of lip syncing that needed to be done. This was quite hard at times because when I got close to getting it right, I found it hard to tell whether the clip was infront or behind of the music and so it sometimes took me a while to get that right. The good thing about editing our film is that we had a lot of clips and had extra clips just to make sure that we had as choice of clips to use. I think that the keys skills that I learnt in AS about filming and editing on Final Cut Pro really helped me in the project. I knew how to work the programme and so I didnt have to worry about not knowing how to cut and edit.

Comparing our video to the original, I think that it worked well. The part of my video that I believe worked the best was the beginning. I like the way that when the teacher turns off the light switch it does so in time with the music. The speed of the teacher writing on the board is also very good compared to the video. I made sure that the same amount of the words was written in my video as in the original and that it started and finished at the same part of the song.
